The Bosnian Pyramids are a group of hill formations located near Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, around 30 km from Sarajevo. They became internationally known after claims that several of these natural hills may represent ancient man-made pyramids, especially the so-called “Pyramid of the Sun.”
Today, the site is one of the most visited alternative tourism attractions in Bosnia, combining archaeology, nature, and hiking.
Main sites in the Visoko pyramid area
Pyramid of the Sun
This is the largest hill in the complex and the main attraction. Visitors can hike along marked trails that lead to viewpoints overlooking the Visoko valley. It is the central point of the pyramid theory and the most developed tourist area.
Pyramid of the Moon
Located near the Pyramid of the Sun, this hill is covered with forest and offers quieter hiking routes. It is less visited and provides a more natural, peaceful experience.
Pyramid of the Dragon & Pyramid of Love
These are smaller surrounding hills included in the pyramid concept. They are accessible via walking paths and are mainly visited for hiking, nature exploration, and viewpoints over the landscape.
Ravne Tunnels
One of the most unique parts of the site is the underground tunnel system known as the Ravne Tunnels. These tunnels are open to visitors and include:
- long underground passages
- stone-lined corridors
- stable cool temperatures year-round
- guided tours and meditation areas
Many visitors come specifically for this underground experience.
